Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park and Reserve is located along Kenya’s southern coast near the border with Tanzania, approximately 560 km (350 miles) from Nairobi and about 90 km (55 miles) south of Mombasa.
The park lies near Wasini Island, a popular starting point for marine excursions and dhow safaris.
Established in 1978 by the Government of Kenya, Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park was created to preserve its fragile coral ecosystems and diverse marine species.
Today, it is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service and plays a vital role in:
